Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris is an American politician. Born on the 20th of October 1964, she is the 49th Vice President of the United States. She is the first woman elected vice president and she also holds the title of highest-ranking female officer in American history. She is a member of Congress and a former senator from California. Harris was born in Oakland. Harris received her law degree from Howard University. Harris began her career at the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. After that, she was enlisted to join the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003, she was elected San Francisco's district attorney. She was elected Attorney General of California in 2010, and was elected again in 2014. Harris was the junior member of the United States Senate from California from 2017-2021. Harris defeated Loretta Sanchez in the 2016 Senate election to become the 2nd African American woman and the first South Asian American to serve in the United States Senate. She was a senator , and advocated for healthcare reform, federal cannabis de-scheduling, the possibility of citizenship for undocumented immigrant immigrants as well as the DREAM Act, a ban against assault weapons and progressive tax reform. The sharp questions she asked Trump officials during Senate hearings earned her national attention, including the second Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh who was indicted with sexual assault.
